Since 1993, the Wheatland Crisis Society (operating the Strathmore Shelter) has relied on the generosity of many to operate our important facility and programs. As annual primary funding decreases and the need for our services increases, we will continue to reach out for assistance from our supporters.
COVID-19 UPDATE ON DONATIONS
In an effort to reduce the risk of COVID-19 we are seeking to limit in person donations. We are so thankful for the support of our community and to everyone who has reached out wanting to help.
In order to us to continue to operate shelter services we are committed to reducing the risk of COVID-19 infections in our team and our families. This means limiting contact with others as much as possible, including in person donations. If you would like to support us please consider donating online.

There are a variety of ways to help:
Online Donations – The shelter requires an upwards of $90,000 per year to continue to operate all of our programs and services. Your generosity can help us to keep families safe and allow for them to make their ‘next step’ to a safe and healthy life. Any amount is appreciated and we now offer the option of recurring monthly donations. Click here to donate online.
Donate Securities & Mutual Funds – A donation of securities or mutual funds is the most efficient way to give charitably. Since capital gains taxes don’t apply, our charity receives the full fair market value when the security is sold, and you get a tax receipt which reflects your larger contribution. ATB Cares – ATB Cares supports Alberta non-profits through their donation matching program. They have allotted $20,000 per month to many charities across the Provence. Donations made through their portal come directly to WCS and we encourage you to donate within the first few days of the month if you choose to use this method as the matching funds pool typically is used up quickly due to so many non-profits involvement. Cash or Cheque Donations – At any time during the year, your generous financial donation is needed and will be used towards operational expenses or program delivery. From $25 to $25,000, any amount is appreciated. Cheques can be made out to Wheatland Crisis Society and with donation as the memo. All donations over $20.00 are eligible for a charitable donation tax receipt as long as a return address and phone number is provided to us. Cheques can be mailed to Box 2162, Strathmore AB, T1P 1K2.
Shop Our Wishlist – The needs of our families and programs are always changing. Check out our wishlist to view the items the shelter is most in need of at the moment. We encourage anyone shopping our wishlist to support independent and local suppliers where possible.
In-Kind Donations – If a monetary donation is not your preferred way of giving, we welcome in-kind (services or goods) donations for a product or service that we may need for our operations or program delivery. Click here to find out more.
